Author Ann Coulter appeared on the Mark Simone radio show on Wednesday and reacted to news of what media and immigration advocates have dubbed a humanitarian crisis on the southwest border of the United States where illegal border crossers are being kept in facilities where adults are kept separated from children. Church leaders have joined politicians such as Barack Obama to decry what they see as the separation of parents from their children at the border.
Coulter expressed concern that illegal child immigrants should be protected from sex traffickers and “coyotes” (smugglers) who prey on them.
Coulter explained that sex trafficking of children is commonplace in many countries outside of the U.S. It was for that reason that a law, she said, was enacted regarding non-Mexicans that separates children from accompanying adults in order to protect children from sex traffickers. They are then adjudicated. She likened the practice to theoretically allowing bank robbers, who are accompanied by children, to complete their crimes and then allow them leave the scene of the crime to face justice later.
The outspoken Trump supporter said that there are plenty of cases of asylees who obtained their status fraudulently, just as there are cases of alien minors who commit crimes. As for the current surge of minors at the southwest U.S. border, Coulter said, “What is happening at the border right now isn't just your run-of-the-mill asylum fraud, this is a political stunt by an outfit called 'Pueblos Sin Fronteras' -- People Without Borders."
President signs an order to keep families together, now creating a much bigger crisis - media left without a story to use in their ongoing Jihad against him. “Their ideological position is 'America cannot have a border'. Anyone can waltz in and start collecting American social security and Medicare and everything else. 'You're not allowed a border, American people.' We know that this has been going on. They've been marching these Central Americans up 2000 miles through Mexico, through the desert of Mexico, abusing these children, 90 percent of whom are not with their parents for this trek to get them to the U.S. border.
“If this were a genuine asylum case for any of them, they would just stop in Mexico. They would say 'I've been persecuted in my own country. Yay! I'm out, I'm in a new country!' Oh, no no no. They are marching to the American border to prove a political point. It's disgusting that liberals are using these wailing children. It's like a girlfriend who cries whenever she doesn't get her way so she always gets her way.”
Also on Wednesday, President Donald Trump issued an executive order titled, “Affording Congress an Opportunity to Address Family Separation.” In says, in part:
“It is the policy of this Administration to rigorously enforce our immigration laws. Under our laws, the only legal way for an alien to enter this country is at a designated port of entry at an appropriate time. When an alien enters or attempts to enter the country anywhere else, that alien has committed at least the crime of improper entry and is subject to a fine or imprisonment under section 1325(a) of title 8, United States Code.
It goes on to say that the administration will enforce the Immigration and Naturalization Act “unless Congress directs otherwise.” Apparently responding to concerns over the separation of adults from children, the order directs the government to “maintain family unity, including by detaining alien families together where appropriate and consistent with law and available resources. It is unfortunate that Congress’s failure to act and court orders have put the Administration in the position of separating alien families to effectively enforce the law.”
Coulter is the author of 'Resistance is Futile" among other books.
