Wanderlust and the cold currently blanketing much of the country may have inspired a baby seal to leave the ocean at Cape Cod and wander far inland. Police at Yarmouth Port on Cape Cod spotted the seal pup waddling along Route 6A on Friday night in Massachusetts.

The seal pup was found outside Yarmouth Pizza Shop, prompting some locals to theorize that it was looking for a pizza with anchovies. The seal was found at least a half mile from the ocean shore.

Police officers rescued the seal with the assistance of Amazing Animal Ambassadors -- a Massachusetts-based business founded by Bethany Jakubson. Once the seal pup was put in a cage, officers waited for Massachusetts wildlife officials to arrive.

The seal was examined, and given a clean bill of health. On Saturday, it was released to its ocean home.

According to the Yarmouth Police Department, the seal pup may have left the ocean and followed a frozen creek until finding the roadway. Likening its moves to the stealthy tactics used by U.S. Navy SEALs, the pup was dubbed “Houston” in memory of Kevin A. Houston -- a Navy SEAL from Cape Cod who fell in action in Afghanistan. “Thank you for visiting us and stay warm and safe out there, buddy,” officers said.
