Famed legal expert Alan Dershowitz said that Special Counsel Robert Mueller’s probe should be halted because "a special counsel is the worst way of getting to the truth." Speaking on Monday on "Fox & Friends," Dershowitz, a Harvard law professor emeritus, said that while it is important to know how Russia meddled in the 2016 election, the investigation should be conducted by independent, nonpartisan commission, rather than a congressional committee or special counsel.
"You need a nonpartisan commission of experts, people who really can dig into this, people who really have experience and who don't have an agenda, who aren't finger-pointing," Dershowitz said. He went on to say that former FBI Director James Comey and Special Counsel Mueller have aided Russia by turning the probe into a partisan matter. "And Americans do not want to see indictments or impeachments based on partisan issues."
President Donald Trump’s supporters and legal counsels have called on Mueller to bring his investigation to a close. Last week, Rudy Giuliani said on “The Ingraham Angle,” "This case is essentially over," and added, "They're just in denial."
