Psychologist Jordan Peterson said in a video released by Prager U that post-modernist, anti-Western thinking dominates academic circles. Not only does he score the academics, he said that parents are funding the indoctrination of their own children into Leftism by paying for tuition at colleges and universities. As far as Peterson is concerned, the post-modernist academics at universities and colleges are dedicated to destroying what is left of Western culture.
‘It’s now possible to complete an English degree," says Peterson in the video, "and never encounter Shakespeare – one of those dead white males whose works underlie our “society of oppression.” Peterson by way of Biblical exegesis and his familiarity with philosophers such as Friedrich Nietzsche, asserts that the ideas asserted by Leftists and post-modernists must be identified so that they can be effectively resisted. "You may not realize it, but you are currently funding some dangerous people. They are indoctrinating young minds throughout the West with their resentment-ridden ideology. They have made it their life mission to undermine Western civilization itself, which they regard as corrupt, oppressive, and 'patriarchal." Taxpayers, and parents paying tuition, are underwriting this vandalism, he added.
In the post-Marxist worldview of academics in the West, individuals are but exemplars of their race, sexuality, gender, or class and thereby fall into either one of two groups: victims or oppressors. According to the exponents of this view, Peterson said, "No wrong can be done by the former group, and no good can be done by the latter. Such ideas of victimization do nothing by justify the use of power, and engender intergroup conflict."
‘First is their new unholy trinity of diversity, equity and inclusion. Diversity is defined not by opinion, but by race, ethnicity or sexual identity; equity is no longer the laudable goal of equality of opportunity, but the insistence on equality of outcome, and inclusion is the use of identity-based quotas to attain this misconceived state of equity. All the classic rights of the West are to be considered secondary to these new values. Take, for example, freedom of speech – the very pillar of democracy. The post-modernists refuse to believe that people of good will can exchange ideas and reach consensus.’
The post-modernist, gender-bending, racist and classist post-modernism espoused on campuses by faculty members and their misled students is essentially a successor to the Marxism that, in the Soviet-bloc, finally succumbed to its own weight in the 1980s. But at America's campuses, its establishment media, law courts, and political movements, the echoes of that failed ideology can still be heard.
