The federally subsidized abortion provider, Planned Parenthood, announced that it has received more than 50,000 individual donations in the name of Vice-President-elect Mike Pence. Pence is the governor of Indiana and has long been known for his pro-life stance. He has also been a veteran in seeking to eliminate federal spending on Planned Parenthood.

This summer, Pence said, “We’ll see Roe vs. Wade consigned to the ash heap of history where it belongs.” He also signed into law requirement for the burial or cremation of post-abortion fetal remains.

The donations in his name were apparently made as a protest against him. They ’make up approximately a quarter of the donations given since Election Day. In a statement to the New York Daily News, Planned Parenthood president Cecile Richards -- a key ally of Hillary Clinton and the Democratic Party -- said “We’ve seen an unprecedented outpouring of support, with more than 200,000 people donating in the week following the election — a quarter of whom pledged to be monthly supporters, recognizing the long-term work that is needed.” Richards added, “Tens of thousands more are pledging to make sure access to health care is protected.”

Planned Parenthood receives approximately $500 million annually in federal subsidies, paid by taxpayers. It is a key player in a number of issues dear to the Democratic Party, such as transgender rights, gay rights, Obamacare, and abortion. The organization issued a statement today declaring that it is "deeply troubled" by President-elect Donald Trump's nomination of Gov. Nikki Haley to serve as U.S. Ambassador to the United Nations.

bortioCelebrities such as Amy Schumer and Amber Tamblyn have promoted the granting of certificates of donation to Planned Parenthood that are sent directly to Pence’s address in the state capital. President-elect Donald Trump has vowed to nominate pro-life Supreme Court justices in the mold of Antonin Scalia.

On its Twitter account, Planned Parenthood offers support for Obamacare, transgender rights, for “sanctuaries for undocumented people” on college campuses.
