Sheikh Raed Saleh Al-Rousan delivered a sermon at the Tajweed Institute in Houston and described for his Muslim listeners their duty with regard to Jews. In a sermon titled “Our Duties Towards Al-Quds [Jerusalem],” Al-Rousan declaimed in Arabic and English on the requirement found in the Sunni hadith: a collection of the sayings and actions of Mohammed, the founder of Islam. Al-Rousan spoke on a hadith that calls on Muslims to fight Jews, and kill them.
On video, Al-Rousan says, “My brothers, the Prophet Muhammad brought the good tidings, when he said: ‘Judgment day will not come until the Muslims fight the Jews. The Muslims will kill the Jews, and the Jews will hide behind the stones and the trees, [which] will say: Oh Muslim, oh servant of Allah, there is a Jew hiding behind me, come and kill him… This is the promise of Allah.” He added: “The hour [i.e. Judgment Day) will not start until Muslims fight the Jews there, in Palestine.”
A video of Al-Rousan’s sermon was posted at the Facebook and YouTube accounts of the Tajweed Institute.
Established in Florida in 2013, the Tajweed Institute is “a non-profit, 501(c)(3), institute that strives to teach and spread the authentic knowledge of the Glorious Quran. Our goal is to spread the skills of Tajweed [correct recitation of the Koran]to all Muslims, young and old, so they can carry on this knowledge to future generations,“ according to its Facebook page. The Houston branch was established in 2017.
Born in Jordan, Al-Rousan holds a degree in the Hadith from Islamic University of Al-Madina in Saudi Arabia. After emigrating to the United States in 2007, he earned a Master’s degree in Islamic Studies from the Graduate Theological Foundation in Indiana. Al-Rousan has served as an imam in Jordan and the United States, including mosques in Florida. Besides teaching the rote memorization and recitation of the Quran, he has taught memorization at the American Youth Academy in Tampa, Florida. Al-Rousan also led a fundraising event for the Austin Peace Academy, an event at the Islamic Society of Arlington, Texas, as well courses at the North Austin Muslim Community Center and the River Oaks Islamic Center in Houston.
According to the MEMRI website:
In his Friday, December 8, 2017 sermon titled ‘Our Duties Towards Al-Quds [Jerusalem]’ at the Tajweed Institute's Houston, Texas branch, the institute's imam and founder Sheikh Raed Saleh Al-Rousan focused on U.S. President Trump's December 6 Jerusalem declaration, said, speaking in a combination of Arabic and English, that the Jews "killed the Prophets and the Messengers of Allah" and went on to cite the widely quoted Hadith stating that on Judgment Day, the Muslims will kill the Jews: ‘My brothers, the Prophet Muhammad brought the good tidings, when he said: 'Judgment Day will not come until the Muslims fight the Jews. The Muslims will kill the Jews, and the Jews will hide behind the stones and the trees, [which] will say: Oh Muslim, oh servant of Allah, there is a Jew hiding behind me, come and kill him... This is the promise of Allah." He added: "The hour [i.e. Judgment Day] will not start until Muslims fight the Jews there, in Palestine."
He also said that since "Britain brought Jewish [people] from different countries to live in Palestine... do not tell me that Palestine is the country of the Jewish [people]." The Tajweed Institute was founded in Florida by Sheikh Al-Rousan in 2013, and the Houston branch was opened in mid-2017. The video of the sermon was posted by the Tajweed Institute on its Facebook and YouTube accounts.”
Raed Al-Rousan said, "[The Jews] killed the Prophets and the messengers of Allah. They did not accept any religion, and they even changed the Torah. They became enemies of each other and they fought each other, brothers and sisters. Go and read the history."
"Nowadays, they say: You know, we have been living in Palestine for thousands of years. After the fall of the Ottoman Caliphate, they were able to... Britain entered and did what it did in Palestine, and they brought the Jews, and now they are bringing Jews from all corners of the earth. They are amassing their multitudes over there. So after, you know, the Ottoman kingdom... After it was ended... Britain, who made that agreement, brought Jewish [people] from different countries to live in Palestine. So do not tell me that Palestine is the country of the Jewish [people]. No!
"And Solomon, and the Temple... When did Solomon come, anyway? This is after... you know... the Prophets, you know, Solomon and David... So we speak about… you know, not in the early time, not in the early time. These are the facts that we need to know and understand, brothers and sisters. So yes, Trump was mistaken.”
